Fast rising comedian, Mc Diouf, is happy to pursue his passion especially as he has his parents’ blessing but they weren’t always happy that their son is a humour merchant till they saw a picture of him and a governor.
In fact, they were really upset initially that they sent their son to school to study accounting but upon graduating, he decided to become a ‘clown’.
He said, “At first, it was war for choosing comedy as a profession. They felt that I went to school to study Accounting but now, I am doing comedy. But the day I had an event in front of a governor and I had the opportunity to take a picture with the governor of which I showed my parents plus the cash I was given, they started supporting me. It was the former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
“My dad had to take the picture and enlarged it and he put it inside his bedroom. The day I saw the picture inside his room, I laughed and I said to myself, ‘thank God for my life; I’m getting there gradually’. After, I won the award for the best comedian of the year in the state for four consecutive times. Now my mum and dad are my prayer warriors whenever I’m going for an event.”
The comedian told Saturday Beats that he discovered his talent while in secondary school but he did not make a career till the Rector of his school, Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State, paid him to anchor his daughter’s wedding.
“When I gained admission into the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, departments and faculties used to invite me for their dinners and events. Even churches on campus also invited me for their concerts and I was paid for services rendered. Suddenly, senior lecturers and even the rector of the institution invited me to anchor his daughter’s wedding. I changed my mind and decided to make it a career when the rector paid me for his daughter’s wedding. I was able to pay my school fees with that money. That was when I realised I could make money through comedy. So when I graduated from school, my peers started inviting me for gigs. So I decided to print out business cards and I registered a company under CAC,” he said.
